Next Weekend - Charlie Cleverly
Charlie Cleverly, along with his wife Anita, lead St Aldates Church in Oxford, one of the most influential Churches in the UK. A regular speaker at New Wine and other Christian events and author of several best-selling books, Charlie is seen as a spiritual mentor to many leaders in the Church.
On Saturday evening, starting with refreshments at 7pm, Charlie will be speaking on how we can grow in intimacy with God.
Hi will also be speaking on Sunday morning.
Charlie read modern languages at Oxford where he was ‘trained to doubt’ by studying Enlightenment and Existentialist literature. He was drawn to Christianity while working as an actor in Oxford. Since ordination, he led for ten years a French-speaking Church in inner-city Paris before moving in 2002 to become Rector of St Aldates, a ‘House of prayer for all nations at the heart of Oxford’. A thousand people attend this city centre Church each Sunday, including many students. He has been involved in setting up ‘ACT!’ which reaches ex-offenders and vulnerable adults in the city. He and his wife Anita founded ‘Love Oxford’ which gathers leaders and churches in the city. He has a love for the whole Church and his interests include discussing issues of faith and doubt with those outside the Church. He is the author of several books, most recently ‘Epiphanies’ (Hodder). He is married to Anita who helped him find faith and is part of the leadership team at St Aldates. They have four children and eight grandchildren. It is a real privilege for us to have Charlie visiting us next weekend. Please put this date in your diary and plan to be here.

Alpha Course starts on Wednesday at 7pm We have a growing list of attendees so please pray for these folk (and the table leaders) as they prepare to attend. It is not too late to invite someone along (friend, neighbour, work colleague etc). Invitations are available if you need one in the café. Please see Richard Powell for more details.

Garin Jenkins – Saturday 28th September
Tying in with the Rugby World Cup, we have invited Garin Jenkins, who is an ex Welsh international Rugby player with 59 caps. During the afternoon, Garin will run a free Rugby training session for young people and share some of his experiences with them. In the evening there will be a Curry Night at church where Garin will share his testimony. Publicity for both events are available in the café. For more details about these events please speak to Dave Thomas or Pete Brooks.

Caroline writes ….
On the 9th November I will be having my head shaved. Over the last 10 years I have lost my beautiful mum, amazing dad, fantastic nan, loved aunties and inspirational friend to various cancers. In addition I know many who have fought or continue to fight this indiscriminate disease. Many people including my mum lose their hair due to the treatments they endure trying to beat this disease. That is why I have chosen this way to raise funds. Please donate to help beat all cancers and support those who care for those that are suffering. I have decided to support Cancer Research and Marie Curie (as these wonderful nurses supported mum and dad near the end).
You can choose to support both or either. All funds raised will be passed to the charities whether the target is reached, not reached or exceeded. Thank you.
