Questions for Home Groups or Private Reflection
You might like to start by reading some key passages.
Try Luke 10:25-37; Mark 12:41-44; 2 Corinthians 8: 1-15
- A friend says ‘I have become a Christian’. In the next 12 months, what evidence of that statement’s truth would you expect to see in their lives?
- And if that friend watches you for 12 months, what evidence of growth would you want them to see? If it is a struggle, have a look at 2 Peter 1.
- “Generosity is what people are made for…. Generosity is one essential dimension of love, and there is ample provision for it…. Prayer and giving are the first two concrete ways of venturing on the kingdom of God and finding its reality.” Dallas Willard; Knowing Christ Today p160.
- Do you agree with this statement? If not , why not? Eg surely some people are just more naturally generous than others? Is it really a Christian virtue?
- Why is generosity such a good word for ‘giving’?
- Discuss together different ways of being generous – a giver – at home, at work, with your friendship group, in church, in the community, in mission – any life situation or community in which you are involved.
