Questions for Home Groups or Private Reflection
God really has not finished with us yet. But there is a day of ‘completion’ apparently.
We will spend just a few weeks in the letter to the Philippians. It is an important document for any church or person who wants to put mission at the centre of their life and purpose. Mission means following Jesus; it means a life of thanksgiving, of fellowship, progress, generosity and contentment.
It’s a great letter. Enjoy it, read it, try to memorise some of it. It will do you GOOD.
This week the big thought is that what God starts, he develops and finishes. Around that there is a good deal of thanksgiving for the fellowship in which he has placed us, in and through Jesus Christ the Lord.
- Tell each other what you know of the church in Philippi – its foundation, background – have a look together at Acts 16 to make sure of it.
- Look at v1. What is missing from Paul’s usual greeting to churches? Can you think why it is missing?
- How do you feel about the others in your group? In what sense do you have a partnership, share fellowship? Look at v7-9 to get some help with the answer as well.
- How does God ‘continue’ his work in us – develop is another translation – look at v 9-11.
