Questions for Home Groups or Private Reflection

Re-tell Esther 1:1-2:23 to each other. Why not try to re-create the drama, irony, humour and poignancy of the story amongst your group. Share together those things that you have learnt so far and/or those things within the story that have made you think.

King Xerxes was rich in every material sense, and yet he was poverty stricken. As we seek to grow in faith why not try to share some of the areas of your life in which you have abundance and those areas where you are in need.

“Power tends to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men” (Lord Acton, 1887).  In what ways was Jesus’ way, the way to which he calls us, different?

Think together: Are there ways in which you (your group) could express the faith of Mordecai and Esther in this faithless world?
