Questions for Home Groups or Private Reflection
1 Cor 14 A reminder
This message is the 2nd of 3 - a subset within the series ‘Sshh’. In some ways the three constitute ONE message. We are asking why Paul writes as he does about the role of women. What part should women be taking in church gatherings for worship in the 21st Century in the UK context?
How are we to understand and respond to Paul’s view? Do we need to make any changes in our own practice?
Few groups are meeting this week and next – Church Prayer followed by Church Members’ Meeting. For that reason we are delaying part 3 of this ‘set’ of messages until 21st March, followed by Home group discussion.
- Be honest – when you have read this passage in the past, what have you thought of it?
- What has Paul already said previously about the ministry of women that we must remember when we read this passage?
- In the multiple choice slide about this passage, what was your answer?
- Assuming we have not all torn these pages from our Bibles, how do you now understand what Paul is concerned about?
- Are women today more or less likely to need this message than their sisters in the 1st Century?
- What are we most looking for in our worship gatherings? What can we do about that?
