This week and next we are looking at what might be called ‘Pentecost Themes’ – but within the Sshh framework, for to understand the times in which we live, and to understand the Bible and its teaching within those times, is crucial to good practice in the church.
- Read through the Bible verses used in the message to give yourself a clear context for our conversation. Are there similar ones to add?
- We surely all have views on the ‘new politics’ of this week. When is it right to call something a ‘sell out’?
- When is it right to revisit and even to change a ‘received’ or ‘cherished’ or ‘traditional’ view of something?
- Look again at the Edwards’ quote. Do you have an idea about ‘which direction the Sovereign Redeemer’ is moving among us just now?
- How can you become wise and discerning?
- Is it easier to understand the times than to ‘know what to do’?
- Gordon Brown said he was going to give time to his ‘most important job’. What are the most important ways for us to work out what God has given us to do here in 2010?
